Greta Zozula is an award-winning cinematographer whose work is defined by a rare sensitivity to atmosphere, human gesture, and the quiet emotional architecture of a scene. Based in New York and Los Angeles, she approaches each project with unique individuality, shaping images that feel intimate, deliberate, and deeply attuned to character.
She is the lead director of photography on The Testaments (Hulu/MGM), the highly anticipated continuation of The Handmaid’s Tale universe, based on Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize–winning sequel. Greta shot six of the ten episodes of the series, bringing a defining visual continuity to the new chapter while expanding the tonal and aesthetic language of the original world.
Her feature film Josephine (dir. Beth de Araújo, Sumerian Pictures) swept Sundance 2026, winning both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, and was also selected for Competition at Berlinale. The film continues its festival run ahead of a theatrical release later this year, with Greta already cited in Variety’s early Oscar 2027 predictions for Best Cinematography. Between The Testaments and Josephine, she is one of the most compelling cinematographers to watch across both film and television.
Her feature work also includes Call Jane (dir. Phyllis Nagy), which premiered at Sundance and screened in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival; Never Goin’ Back (dir. Augustine Frizzell), acquired by A24; and The Half of It (dir. Alice Wu), winner of the Tribeca Grand Jury Prize. Her cinematography on Materna (dir. David Gutnik) earned the Tribeca Film Festival Award for Best Cinematography.
Recognized early for her distinct visual language, Greta received the ICG Emerging Cinematographer Award and was named one of the ASC’s Rising Stars of Cinematography. Her other features include Fairyland (dir. Andrew Durham), produced by Sofia Coppola and American Zoetrope.
Beyond narrative cinema, her work extends into television and commercial projects where her visual authorship remains unmistakable. Select credits include Servant (Apple TV+), Three Women (STARZ), American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez (FX), along with award-winning campaigns such as Visa’s
Everyone’s Mountain and Michelob Ultra’s Sports Emmy-winning, Dreamcaster.
